“Choose, and commit... Not choosing is stagnant. It’s stressful.”
Plus a creative life inspired by a piece of shrapnel
Good morning. Here’s your three-part nudge for the day:
a prompt
Write on the following for 5–10 minutes:
Have you changed your mind about anything recently? What led to that?
a thought
“Some of the best advice I’d ever been given was to just make a decision and stick with it – rather than wasting days of your life dithering about something. Choose, and commit. Even if it’s the wrong choice, at least you’ve made a choice and stayed in motion. Not choosing is stagnant. It’s stressful.” – Jenny Tough, endurance athlete, Solo (2022)
farewell
Bryan Kneale, sculptor (1930–2025)
“In September 1941, a German bomb fell near Douglas on the Isle of Man… Running to see what had caused the explosion, [Kneale’s father] returned carrying a piece of shrapnel for his 11-year-old son. ‘I thought I’d never seen anything so beautiful,’ Kneale told Studio International in 2015. ‘I took it to school the next day and some swine stole it.’”
Thanks for coming, dear makers and shakers. See you tomorrow ☕
